A good hand-painted mid-19th century policemans truncheon, with Victoria crown to the top, a VR monogram and 'police' in gold on a red shell framed cartouche all on a black ground. The paint remains bright and fresh with a few bumps and knocks and some chipping of the paint around the grip handle, however this is relatively minor. The handle end is stamped 'Field of Holborn' and dates between 1840 and 1870.
44 cm long.
