Sunflower still life

​A fine mid-century oil on board of a sunflower in a glass vase. The bold composition in a strong palette of pastel colours is beautifully rendered in bold brushwork. The confident handling of the refracted light in the glass vase is a particular pleasure. Sat within a period frame and signed to the bottom M Sodersteen '45. Swedish, 1945. Frame size 73cm x 59cm.
