Writing compendium

​A rare early 18th century travelling ink well with pounce pot combination, richly patinated horn with ring turned decoration, the top section unscrews to reveal a blackened ink well, the second section unscrews to reveal a shallow pounce pot with perforated top. These items are sometimes referred to as ink horns. The thread to the top section still bites but is slightly worn. English 1720/1750. 8.5 cm tall.
