Newsum Antiques

Picture
18th century stay busk

This is a rare find, an excellent scratch carved stay busk with owners initials EA and a good early date of 1786. Of typical tapering form with a triangular cross section. The surface is covered with shallow etched lines featuring tulips and flower motifs and double heart design. Nicely patinated with signs of genuine wear and probably carved from a humble hedgerow wood like hawthorn. This piece comes with a well crafted iron display stand.

34cm long.

H10.12 SCK £1175
