Sycamore mortar grinder

A rare Charles II sycamore mortar grater of rich colour and deep patination. Constructed in three sections with a pestle top sitting inside a grinding chamber which locates with a bayonet fitting into the footed collecting bowl. Typical of early treen is the deeply concave turned foot. In good overall condition with historic woodworm holes and some age cracks. English, 1680.
