Love spoon
An exceptional mid 19th century Welsh love spoon with double spoons joined by a pierced backboard finely fretted with hearts, keyhole, goblets, bowls and trees. Initialled and dated 1855 inlaid with orange wax, crafted from fine grained sycamore and in wonderful dry untouched condition. This piece is a rare survivor of the folk art traditions and courting rituals of the 19th century. Small damage, see photos. 18cm long.
