A mid 18th century carved wood watch holder in flamboyant Rococo style depicting Samson wrestling the lion, surrounded by scrolled foliage and the top canopy with scrolled ribbon motifs. Possibly originally gilded, the present surface is a pleasing enhancement of salmon pink rouge with distressed plaster highlights. Scandinavian, 1750. 32 cm high, 18 cm wide at the base.
